Hello Changemakers,
I’m traveling for work for the next couple of weeks and won't be able to write... However, I couldn't bear the thought of not connecting with you during this time.
+ I didn’t want to go silent, because staying in touch is important! 😉 (honesty here) 👏
Consistency, as many of you would agree, is one of the cornerstones of successful writing. It keeps us engaged with our community and helps to cement our presence in the world of online content.
Yet, life doesn't always accommodate our plans to be consistent, and as I find myself navigating the demands of travel, I'm reminded of the challenges many of us face as part-time writers, balancing writing with other commitments.
Here's a little piece of advice for those times when writing a full newsletter issue isn't feasible: value can be added in many forms, and sometimes, the briefest messages, those "few words from the heart”, can resonate just as powerfully with your audience.
Just Be You!
Authenticity is magnetic. When you write, even if it's just a short update or note, let your genuine voice shine through. Your readers subscribed to your newsletter because they value your unique perspective and voice. A heartfelt note explaining your situation can strengthen the bond you have with your readers, making them feel like part of your journey.
Keep It Meaningful
Even a brief message can be impactful if it contains a nugget of wisdom, an update, or a personal reflection that your readers can relate to or learn from. Use these moments not only to explain your absence but to share a lesson or observation that's relevant to their interests and yours.
Plan a Little
When you know you'll be unavailable, plan your content in advance. Perhaps prepare a shorter, easier-to-manage piece that can be scheduled to send out in your absence. This can include:
top tips
interesting quotes
a recap of your most popular content, or
answers to reader questions.
Engage Differently
If writing a full newsletter isn't possible, consider other forms of engagement.
Could you share a photo from your travels or a quick video message?
Could you ask your readers a question to encourage interaction in the comments section, keeping the community lively and engaged while you're away?
Get Feedback
Use short updates to invite ideas or ask what your readers are curious about. This not only helps you plan future content but also makes your readers feel like they’re truly part of the community.
In short, i want to leave this on the table: remember that staying in touch doesn’t always require lengthy posts. Simple, sincere communication can keep your newsletter strong and your readers happy.
I’m excited to catch up properly when I’m back 😊
I also want to let you know that I might pop in when possible. If time allows…
Your understanding and engagement mean the world to me, and they motivate me to find ways to communicate, no matter how packed the schedule gets. 🙏
Until next time👋 ,
